Theory about the Shadows of Yor in D2
Post Body

So, we've learned over the past few weeks that a lot of the Age of Triumph cards forecast things in D2. The Fallen burning their banners and going... somewhere. Nessus coming back into the system. We now know Asher Mir is in the game.

So, this leads us to the Shadows of Yor, who feature prominently in many of the cards that were added at the end of D1. They think that they've been able to capture the essence of Thorn and make weapons that tap into the Darkness without being as dangerous as the real cannon.

There was a comment in a lore thread in the main Destiny subreddit that theorized that Veist is run by the Shadows, and the more I think about it, the more right I think they are. I was playing around with Thorn for the first time in forever the other day and I was struck by how the sights on Thorn are so similar to the sights on the Veist auto rifle we got to use in the D2 beta. They're both two prongs on top of the weapon. Vesit weapons even have that green smoke effect when they're fired that remind me of the poison effect from Thorn.

It would explain why Veist weapons weren't in D1. Why introduce a brand new foundry out of nowhere instead of expanding on something like Nadir or Daito? Because there's a significance to Vesit, and the people who make those guns. They're the Shadows of Yor. It's why Bungie went to such great lengths to introduce the Shadows in the Grimoire.
