The Traveller in its essence is a terraformer, it creates life. However, this is not quite true. I don’t think the traveller actually creates anything but rather imprints the will of the gardener into things.
This is supported in a few ways, the new expansion features the imprints of nezarec which were created when the witness’s ship was hit by the beam. Assuming the theory that nezarac betrayed the witness is true then the gardener was trying to imprint nezerac and have him fight the witness.
The ghosts revive guardians however, do they really?
If it is true that the traveller imprints the will of the gardener into things may the ghosts actually be doing the same?
Are guardians just different facets of the gardeners mind?
By extension is nezerac also a facet of the gardeners mind?
Is everyone a facet of the gardener or winnowers a mind?
This brings forward the idea that guardians are not revived so to speak but are just possessed corpses.
The radial mast could be the witness’s attempt at making an artificial ghost.
By reversing or twisting the mind of the gardener one could theoretically take away light or simply open the traveller giving one access to the plane of the gardener and winnower.
The veil could simply be a large part of the gardeners consciousness that was lost.
Could the witness be aware of this then? Is the witness simply trying to make himself whole and reform the gardener and that is what his disciples want.
Is the witness simply just the most whole out of all of us?
This is just some of the theorising I’ve been doing since lightfall but the more I think about it the more it makes sense.
