Once, I was but a mere Guardian. Brought back to life with the gift of God. Tasked with an impossible goal to protect what remains of humanity.

Day by day, decades by decades, I did the same as others who received the same blessing. I killed in the name of justice, in the name of protection, in the name of my God. I thought of myself as a noble warrior, the spear which my God wield to punish the wicked and the defiled.

I was wrong. I was not an angel, a messenger of my God, and my helmet showed me the path.

I found it in an ancient tomb, long forgotten by existence. There, sat upon the tomb, is a remnant of the truth. The truth about power, the Void, and my God. My fireteam saw it as a fragment of evil, but they are blinded by God's light. I was the only one who can see the truth it can offer.

I was but a fledgling Voidwalker, but now a master within its embrace. My fireteam feared that I will be consumed, led astray by a relic beyond their comprehension. How ironic as their fear consumed them.

I continued to deliver judgement on behalf of my God, and instead of justifying the violence, I reveled in it. With the helmet, I allow the Void to flow freely through my body, to become one with it. The more I enjoy bringing death to my enemies, the mightier my powers grew. And as the universe unveiled itself more to me, my belief in my God faltered. A God who spoke with lies does not deserve to wield me as its spear.

Even as I strike down the enemies of humanity, my fellow Guardians doubted me, suspected my pledge to defend The Last City. They are fools, all of them. They believe only in the Light, and that the sphere floating in the sky whom I once called my God will grant them power. Laughable. Their trust in the Mask of Lies is simply pitiful.

The day came when they have finally bare their frightful fangs at me, the rightful messenger to the true God. As I float into the sky, I bestowed upon them my first and final sermon to the believers of the false god.

"He is that which is end. That which covets sin. The final god of pain—the purest light, the darkest hour. And He shall rise again. When the guiding shine fades and all seems lost He will call to you. Fear not. All He offers is not as dark as it may seem. For Nezarec is no demon, but a fiend, arch and vile in ways unknown. He is a path and a way, one of many. And his sin—so wicked, so divine—is that he will never cower when dusk does fall, but stand vigilant as old stars die and new Light blinks its first upon this fêted eternity."

I may be powerful, however, I was no match against multiple god-slayers. They could not remove the blessed relic from me, therefore chose to imprison me. I held back my laughter as they believed they have delivered justice as usual, mindlessly following the orders of the Mask of Lies.

Soon they will realize their mistake. Soon they will know that Light and Dark is not a simple contrast. To choose one over the other is to welcome destruction of the universe. Balance is the only salvation. One day, they will return to me. They will see my ways, and they will know that I have spoke nothing but the truth.

I sat patiently in my cell waiting for that day. The day of reckoning, where Light and Dark will bid their champions against each other once more, foolishly believing either one of them would become the Final Shape.

And today is the day. I smiled at the Awoken who visited me after so many years.
