The Awoken prince crawled on the ground, exhausted, and on the verge of collapse. He knew what was coming. He knows what is inevitable. But he still wants to survive to see his sister once more.

Heavy steps came from the door behind him. Each step echoed loudly in the chamber. He wanted to reach for the gun of his victim, the Ace of Spades. But he realized it was too far away and was no used even if he had it in his grip as it was already broken.

The Awoken Hunter picked up the gun and shove it into a spare holster as she noticed the hand cannon is out of commission. Instead, she pulled out her primary weapon, walked towards the writhing man on the ground, and pointed it at him.

Thorn.

It promised her power to avenge her friend and mentor. The power to exact her vengeance on the scum that took away the one person she looked up to since she has risen. Although it has been cleansed by Void Light, it was as if it was feeding on her hatred, allowing the poisonous fire within her heart festers.

Uldren turned around and spoke to the Guardian, but his words passed her ears. All she could think of is the vilest tortures she could imagine to put the villain through.

Petra quickly stepped in and replied to the prince. The rest of the Hunter's fireteam, a Warlock wielding Lumina, and a Titan with The Last Word on her hand, stepped into the chamber as well once they wiped out the rest of the enemies. The Warlock wanted to stop her friend from making a grave mistake, but the Titan stopped her, believing that their fireteam leader would make the right choice. They stood far behind, watching the whole thing unfold.

The Hunter's grip on Thorn became tighter as her Ghost spoke. "Not like this"? "NOT LIKE THIS"?! HE MURDERED CAYDE. ULDREN SOV PUT CAYDE INTO THE GROUND LIKE A DOG. AND YOU'RE TELLING ME, "NOT LIKE THIS"?!

She could feel her hand trembling. Her wrath grew and grew, and the Queen's was not in a forgiving mood either.

"Yes, what would the notorious Cayde-6 do?"

He will kill the Awoken Prince.

He will put as many holes as he could into the Awoken Prince.

He would not stop firing until the scum is unrecognizable.

The Warlock and Titan became even more worried. They hoped that their leader would know better. To be better. To do the right thing because the right thing needs doing.

When the last sentence left the prince's mouth, the Hunter hesitated slightly.

Does she know what side she is on?

For the past few weeks, all she did with her fireteam was killing each and everything that is associated with Uldren in order to bury him six-feet into the ground. That was all that she could think of. She ignored the words of her companions, of those who dissuade her from the path of vengeance.

Cayde was my friend, she thinks as her finger draws near to the trigger.

Cayde was my mentor, she thinks as her finger is on the trigger.

Cayde, was my hero. She thinks as she is ready to pull the trigger.

But she didn't.

She couldn't.

In the end, at the deepest part of her heart, she knows Cayde is not perfect.

Maybe she should do what Cayde would've done. Maybe she shouldn't have so much consideration to avenge her friend.

But Cayde once told her that he believes she could be better than him. That she can do better and be a better Guardian than he ever could be.

What would Cayde wants you to do, right here, right now?

A tear slid down her cheek. She thought about Cayde, about her fireteam, about herself, and finally, The Hated Path on her hand.

As the prince closed his eyes, waiting for the end to come, she closed hers as well.

And then a bang was heard.
