I think the right has essentially won on gay issues.

Over the past 6 years we've continued to see a decline in gay acceptance in various ways. In 2022, 71% of Americans said gay and lesbian relations were morally acceptable. In 2023, in fell to 64% which is a huge drop for just 1 year. That is mostly do to conservatives as acceptance among them fell from 56% to 41%. And to put the conservative stats into perspective, it was 39% among them, in 2014. So we lost almost a decade worth of growth of support among conservatives in just 1 year.

It's still really high among democrats, at 79% but even that fell, from 85% the year prior. It went up to 74% from 73% among independents, so that is something I guess.

The new poll for this year should be coming out soon as they seem to usually release these in June, but I'd bet it will continue to decline.

There is another poll that just came out with some interesting data. Support for same sex marriage dipped 7 points .

There is also a big divide between gen z males and females on support for gay issues. A majority of gen z males oppose laws banning discrimination against lgbt people in employment, housing, social services, etc. A strong majority of gen z males also oppose lgbt people in media.

There are other polls that show this as well but I'm not going to get into every one. What do you attribute to this? I think its due to the right wings domination of the internet. Right wing, anti gay types are extremely popular in general but more so among gen z males and they've been radicalizing them for years.

Do you think this continues? And where do you see it ending?

I honestly think in the next 8 years, we will see "rainbow capitalism" over. Companies won't sell any pride products or anything and they will stop publicly promoting their equality messages or whatever. It will also not be socially acceptable for gays to be out of the closet again. It will start to be dangerous for them and the risk of them losing their job, rental, etc will be the norm. We will see the repeal of many discrimination laws, more laws banning and restricting gays in public and media, and probably the overturn of Obergefell.
