We just returned from the Desire Grand Miches Resort! Spent six days there. I know this is long, but that is on purpose. Before going, we had a hard time finding recent, or detailed reviews, so we hope you find this helpful. Feel free to ask me any questions. I will respond as quickly or as often as I can. I'm actually going to divide it into two different posts, because Reddit limits the length of posts that you can put up.

ABOUT US:

We've only been to Temptation in Cancun, and I'll state right up front, for us Desire Grand Miches blew Temptation away in EVERY possible way.

We've been married a long time, and while we are not swingers, we like pushing boundaries, and using sexy situations to fuel our mutual fantasies, and we fantasize a lot about swinging.

Needless to say, we were excited and nervous to go!

ARRIVAL:

We flew into Punta Cana and took the Punta Cana limo Transport service. We booked this directly on the website when we booked our stay at the resort. It was simple and easy.

Drivers in the Dominican are not like what you are used to. They pass on double yellow lines, they pass on curves, they pass when other cars are coming the opposite direction. But it seems to work and everyone seems to understand the flow. If you are susceptible to being car sick, the drive, which is about an hour and 20 minutes from airport to Resort, can definitely make you car sick!

Check in was easy! They welcomed us with a nice glass of champagne. You're then turned over to the Premiere representative, but we rejected to sales pitch and went to our room.

ROOMS:

The rooms were very nice. We had a couple cupboards that did not not shut evenly, but who cares? The rooms were very nice, and everyone had a nice walkout balcony with good seating. Shower was plumbed backwards from the way America does it, so it took us a while to figure out how to get hot water! We actually called the front desk and they sent a plumber to our room within 10 minutes! We felt like idiots when we were shown that the hot water is to the right and not the left.

The heating and the air conditioning was absolutely fantastic!, the television had some American channels, some Dominican channels, and three porn channels.

SERVICE:

It is difficult to overstate how amazing the service was. Every single person there is vested in making certain that your stay is comfortable. You really grow to love some of the waiters, baristas, and bartenders.

Yes, there is a language barrier, but it is not as bad as you may have heard, and did not hamper us in any way. It did however, commit my wife and I to learning spanish!

DRINKS:

In a review by Mr and Mrs Jones podcast, they said that you could not get premium alcohol on a Desire side, and that you had to go to the Temptation side to get things like Grey Goose. This did not seem to be the case last week. I regularly got Grey Goose vodka, whenever I asked for it, and I am not a Premier member. They seemed to have fixed this issue.

There does seem to be a little lack of consistency in what different drinks mean to different bartenders. For instance, if I asked for a strawberry mojito at the main outside bar, they made a fantastic strawberry mojito! But when I asked for a strawberry mojito at the swim-up pool bar, they made me a frozen, mixed mojito! I have never had a frozen mojito before and it was absolutely fantastic! I found a new drink that I love. It was literally like a frozen strawberry daiquiri, except it was green and it tasted like the Mojito. Haha! On rare occasion you would get something completely different from what you ordered, and it always made it an adventure.

FOOD:

It was surprisingly good! We ate at the Asian restaurant twice, once at the Hibachi Table and it was great! We ate at the Italian place twice and it was probably my favorite place, Very good. It seems that the buffet is the only option for breakfast, but they have a wide variety of food available, and they do over easy eggs far better than anywhere in Mexico. Fruit is great, Honey comes directly out of a honeycomb, bread options are super, omelets are great. Everything was just better than I had anticipated.

When you check in the first day, you will want to get your reservation for the restaurant called She, which is over on the Temptation side. It is the multi-course, small plate meal with seductive pole dancing during dinner. I thought it was great, but you definitely need reservations. You also need reservations for the Hibachi Table as well. You make these in the morning at the buffet check-in.

As a side note, you still have access to both sides if you stay at the Desire Resort. I had heard both things prior to going, and I can tell you with 100% certainty that if you are staying on the Desire side, you have access to both resorts.
