I work at a higher ed institution and have been asked to design a poster that is going to be displayed at a sister school. The poster is promoting online education, aka Distance Learning. So on the heading of the poster I used the phrase "Go The Distance". My boss just replied back that she is worried about infringing on copyright laws. (She loves it otherwise) I went and search the US Patent website and found that "Go the distance..." and "Go the distance!" are both trademarked.
Is anyone familiar with trademark law and how that works? Can I really not use this phrase because some dental company and some make-up company have it trademarked? I don't have any punctuation on the end and the others do, does that make a difference?
