So I got a response to my post on for an AP. She says she is a desi girl in Boston. We start chatting. Move on to telegram

Exchange pics and it’s going great. However I have been bitten multiple times like this by people. For context, been sextorted before. Almost scammed a couple of times and on a daily basis report scammers in a couple of platforms.

So I run my usually check. Send in a simple grabify link to a piece of jewelry asking for opinion. The trace puts her in Canada.

Wanted to be sure because I don’t want to accuse so do some more simple checks and yes it’s an actual IP and looks legit. Not a VPN either.

I causally ask her if she is from Canada. She says no

Then she completely explodes. “You sent a link. I know what this is. I am on VPN.”

Then gets unhinged that I ran a check in her and that I was “acting smart”. Finally blocks me on telegram.

So my question here - is this wrong? Trying to be safe as much as I can online?
