Hey y'all - just wanted to share that Depop has made recent changes to streamline cases for 'item not described' that heavily favor the buyer and they do not give a shit about you as the seller, nor do they even look at your listing. My listing had the tag in a photo, was correctly categorized as the size on the tag, and additionally indicated in the text based description the size. The buyer never asked me about measurements. She lowballed me and I accepted, and shipped next day. When she asked me to refund the item for fit, she also accused me of having sent her a damaged item - bc it was smaller than she expected (it was an xxs). I have never washed and shrunk the item. It was worn once, and hung up. It's a beautiful sezane sweater that was in excellent condition. I told her to repop the item, as this is what I do when I myself buy something and it doesn't fit as I expected, but I didn't ask for more sizing info than what was provided.
She provided pictures to Depop of her measuring a diff pink sweater, when I had sold her her a greeny blue sweater, and then comparative measurements to my sweater. There is no indication in the pictures that she is even measuring a diff sezane gaspard sweater. Also Sezane has sold that sweater for many years and it is possible fit has changed from year to year. I was given no chance to respond to any of the buyer's claims.
Depop simply sent me an email saying I would have to refund the buyer and reply to let them know to even send my item back.
I repeatedly asked them to provide a rationale as to why they believe the item was not as described. They have not responded to my question - and they have repeatedly sent me a canned response that my options are to let them know if I want the sweater back, or not respond and the buyer gets refunded and keeps my sweater.
I have asked to speak to a manager about this and they are also ignoring that.
I am not in a position where if I get my item back - what if the buyer shrunk it further? If it feels even slightly diff than how I sent it, I will be continuing to email their support line for a resolution, but there is no number to call, and they are uninterested in anything I have to say.
So ya - just so yall know - all a person has to do if they don't like their purchase now is tell Depop that they're sads! And measure some other RANDOM item, to prove that the item you sold them..is somehow diff than how they expected - Even if they ask no questions ahead of sending you their little lowball offer.
btw - the buyer - has no engagement with Depop before this. No listings for sale (whereas I have several), and has no other buying reviews which indicates to me she has never bought anything else on Depop whereas I have purchased like...prob 8 things in the past month alone lol.
These resell sites are insane. She prob saw on other secondary sites that this same sweater was in like the $90-$110 range and so I had mine up at like $80 and she offered me $60. Who buys an xxs and doesnt ask for more measurements and then complains it's small.
Just tell her to send it back. That’s sucks but if she’s getting refunded make her send it. Sorry you’re going through this 🙁
