How long should an occlusal guard last?
Post Body

What's the shortest amount of time that one of these things lasts? longest? I have a hard acrylic night guard. This thing might as well be superman hugging my teeth, it's awesome. I can't sleep without it or else I'm sore in the morning.

But, since I've learned how important this thing is I'm curious about its lifespan. I got this one as a gift from my dentist but I know that it costs about $300-$700 (I have both top and bottom).

As long as my teeth don't shift, and I don't develop hulk tooth powers and wear through the guard, should this thing last me for a few more years?

I don't have dental insurance, but I've got a "dental fund" savings account. I've always paid cash only. But, I'm hoping to not use any of that extra funds ever (cross my fingers and floss for life), and if I can take good care of my occlusal guard and not have to replace it, I'd love it.

My hygiene is top notch but I only brush my guard...and it's getting kinda funky. Gross. I am hoping to get it cleaned when I go in for a cleaning in January...to a new dentist (Italian, oy, wish me luck).

I ordered some denture cleaner off of amazon. Will that help with day to day cleaning?
