I just smelled this foul smell for the 2nd time in my life...I was stuck in the aisle of a train and I had to lean over an old (80ish years old) dude for a good 15 minutes.
His breath smelled similar to what I smelled when I first started flossing, but with an added layer of dead things. I caught a look at his teeth and (no surprise here) they had loads of calculus buildup and his gums were scary, about as puffy as a marshmallow and dark red. Yes, I stared...I couldn't go anywhere so what else was I going to do...Also I was insanely curious.
This is the first time that the "staring at others is normal and okay" culture has worked in my favor here.
Acute necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis? Or is there something else that happens when you are pretty old that I don't know about yet?
