IANB pain

Post Body
I'm a student and sometimes when i administer IANB the patient finds it extremely painful. One patient i had recently was squirming in the chair the whole time. We've been taught the technique of inserting the needle from the opposite premolars until bone contact, retracting, repositioning the needle more anteriorly, then reinserting until 1 cm of the needle is visible. What can I do to minimize the pain?

I'm only a hygienist but I've found that there's an absurd percentage of people who cannot breathe through their noses. It's honestly disconcerting that they're going through life like that.
