Considering the switch to medical school, realistic?
Post Body

I’m a D1. I feel like I’ve tricked myself into thinking I like dentistry. My mom is a dentist and I liked assisting but I don’t like the practical hands on portion at all. Looking into the loupes while breaking my back carving away a prep doesn’t appeal to me. I did like waxing teeth though. I LOVED college and ended with a 3.95 in my bio major, 85th percentile DAT, and 4.0 first sem dental school grades. In dental school I absolutely love the didactic course but the dental stuff bores me. I like dentistry and appreciate how important it is and I liked working with patients when I assisted. Honestly the only thing I can see myself doing is prob dental anesthesiology and maybe perio. OMFS is also cool. I’ve heard how hard med school is to get into even with perfect GPAs. I don’t have any medical extracurriculars or LORs or the MCAT although I don’t think I’d have trouble with it, but man it’s been long since gen Chem and physics lol. I just feel like I hate resto and will also hate prosth. I know I should probably tough it out but idk.
