I just started my first job as an RDH. I feel like I suck at it. I’m so slow and feel like it’s impossible to get all the calculus off. I’m so used to spending 8 hours on a single patient in school and obsessing over getting every single piece of calculus off. So here’s my question to more experienced hygienists… do you actually get ALL the calculus off? Or do you just get what you can in the allotted time you have? I so badly want to ask my dentists and coworkers this question so that I know what’s truly expected of me, but I can’t ask them cause I don’t want them to question why they hired me lol. I’m scared I’m never gonna be good at my job.
You just do your best. Dentistry in general is a very imperfect science/art.
