My tooth is very sensitive (cold foods/drinks, etc) even though I've been consistently brushing with Sensodyne. When I rub a bit of it onto the sensitive area, it hurts so bad as if the nerves were on fire and lasts about 30 seconds before it subsides but the pain is almost unbearable, is this a major concern?
It's at the point that I fear going to get my teeth cleaned as the the second numbing gel is applied (to help with the pain for scaling), it reacts the same as when I rub some Sensodyne on, it just hurts so bad I can't even think for lack of a better way to describe it.
It's just one tooth? Is there gum recession on that tooth? Might want to have it evaluated for cracked tooth syndrome or cavities.

Have them apply fluoride varnish next time you go in for a cleaning. See if you can get your hands on some Clinpro or Prevident Sensitive toothpaste.
