Title says it all. I have a full day tomorrow, and two half-days of training with another assistant before she leaves to go back to school and I’m on my own.
I have never worked in a dental office before. I did a year of hygiene school but failed one class (pharmacology) so I know the BARE minimum. I don’t know how to do impressions, I’m good at placing rins but it takes me so long to set them up (those damn PAs) and I have no effing clue where to hold the suction tube. Every time I had to use it in school I would suck the patients lip or cheek. Also, I don’t know wtf any of the supplies are (etch, bond, tofflemeier wtf)
I’m freaking out but I can’t find another job that will pay more than $20/hr (i am in MA btw)
If I were you, I’d ask the other assistant to make lists of the doctor’s preferred tray set ups for different procedures. Better yet, take pictures to refer to at a later date. Watch youtube videos of step by step procedures for the basics like fillings, crowns, RCT, extractions, etc.
