Hey all! I am just seeking some advice lol hopefully from a kind place. I’ve been a dental assistant for about three years and now I work upfront for the most part and those three years I’ve learned. We are way underpaid. Doctors really fucking suck and I like working on kiddos better than I do adults. That’s why I have decided to work upfront as I do not like general dentistry. My question is… if you got out of this field what are you doing now? Did you go back to school? Also I’m struggling right now with pay. I make 20 an hour and quite frankly it’s not enough. My boyfriend and I are both struggling with our hourly rates. I feel like we both have dead end careers:/ unless one of use goes back to school or there is a loop hole besides hygiene school to make decent money idk what to do otherwise:/ more background we live in a bigger city in Iowa. Cost of living it’s terrible as some places are but it’s still not ideal even in the Midwest. I’ve thought about moving out of state I know cost of living is more but maybe more room for growth and opportunity somewhere else? And advice would be great:) also if you can say where you are from and your current pay as an dental assistant that would be great ❤️ also if you have a side job what you do
