Question! Kinda long - tl;dr at the bottom

I was channeling to chat with Dantalion the other night using tarot. I asked for confirmation from one of the cards I know to be associated with them currently, even if loose association, which are 9oC or High Priestess. I received the Magician instead, so I asked again for an air card for confirmation, and got the 5oS. I continued with my questions, interpreting responses via the cards that dropped out, and my final question was re: the Aquarius I am dealing with and my final card was The Star with that question.

I did cleanse the deck first (Hermetic deck, the only one I’ve used for this purpose) - incense and then under selenite for the day.

I have not been working with Dantalion for long and they are the first spirit I have intentionally invoked. So I’m questioning my intuition and discernment a bit.

I think what’s tripping me up is that Magician card coming out first as opposed to one of the cards I had requested for confirmation. My concern is that it could have been a trickster, but energetically, that’s not the feeling that I got.

The energy was very calm, the responding cards were not confusing at all either - I’ve read many times that when it is a trickster, most experienced a very chaotic read from their cards, which was definitely not the case.

So my question is, could it have been someone else and I wasn’t able to pick up on that? Aside from The Baphomet, the only one I personally know to be associated with The Magician, who else could be associated with that card?

My other thought was with regard to Dantalion’s personality as I understand it so far, and that it still could have been them, with that card maybe being more of a confirmation that they are assisting with the manifestations I have been working on as they are within their wheelhouse.

tl;dr - trying to sort discernment with who I was speaking to because the first card I asked to see for confirmation wasn’t what I got, but the next one was.
