Being a Jewish democrat really sucks right now

The far left hates us. The far right hates us. The LGBTQ community, who we’ve supported since before mainstream democrats supported, have turned on us. University students hate us.

It feels kinda surreal right now. I’m seeing swastika graffiti underneath bridges in my city. People chanting “gas the Jews” in Australia. People chanting “from the river to the sea” in America.

I didn’t really grow up practicing Judaism. I always felt like antisemitism wasn’t really a thing that would ever affect me.

But here I am, feeling genuine fear for the first time in my life to tell people that I am of Jewish descent.
