Backstory:

Nick and Jessica Abbott were two travelling cast members of a theatrical group that performed musicals all over the country. They were in the ensemble, often singing and dancing but never really getting more than a supporting role. It was Nick who was failing purposefully so his wife wouldn't get jealous. But Terpsichore noticed his exceptional dance skills and they ended up spending a short time together before the musical troupe moved to another city.

Nine months later the twins appeared on their doorstep. Nick, being the smooth talking man that he was, was able to convince his wife that he had a cousin that died and left him their children. Jessica wasn't very smart so she didn't question any of it. Instead the two of them took their new children to Cleveland, Ohio where they began to work for one of the many theatres in the area and settled down to raise their family. They raised Molly and Wes to believe that they were adopted.

The truth all came out when they were 13 of course. The twins did better than they should have at a national cheerleading competition for young children. So much that there was an investigation into them to see whether there were any drugs or abuse. During that time it also came out that this "cousin" did not exist. And after all was said and done Nick and Jessica were on the verge of divorce and Terpsichore had claimed her children.

Molly had always taken care of Wesley through this time. She was the older of the two twins and felt responsible for him. With their parents always busy with their performances she became way too mature at way too young of an age. And Wes sort of became unable to think for himself or stand up for himself. When people bullied him on their cheer squad or at school his sister was right there to defend him. They were inseparable.

For the past few years they spent their summers together at Camp Half Blood. Wesley had nearly died that one year when the wind gods tore apart camp and destroyed all the buildings. This past summer they were supposed to be there as well but there was an important cheerleading competitions that neither of them could miss. But with monsters starting to attack them at school there was no choice but to leave school early and come to Camp Half Blood full time. Not like their parents would miss them.

Now

It felt weird for the twins to be at camp in the winter. Neither of them had ever experienced Camp Half Blood as it was now with a light dusting of snow on top of it from a late winter snowfall. But it was nice in a way. It was different from when they lived at home. And now they were here at their second home.

As soon as Molly stepped out of the taxi, Wes was right behind them. They carried many bags as the two of them were used to having a lot of things. But they were feeling restless and giddy. Perhaps Wesley was feeling more playful than his sister but as she walked in front of him towards the muse cabin he stopped and dropped his things.

He made a snowball with the little snow there was on the ground still and tossed it at her, hitting her in the back. She yelped and turned to throw a snowball back at him. Neither of them had the best aim so it was possible some snowballs might hit bystanders. Or maybe someone would want to see what was going on?

Comments

Curtis wasn't exactly the artistic type. He'd never been great at it. But snow sculpting was different. There was never any snow back home in the winter, at least without going up to the mountains, so he made his best out of it when it snowed here. Especially since coming outside of the summer.

So, with that in mind, he found himself outside of the anemoi cabin making a snowman.

It was nothing fancy, just three balls of snow that progressively got smaller the higher they went. Still, he was proud. At least until an errant snowball slammed into its face and knocked the sunglasses off their perch.

"What the fu-" he began, turning to find the culprit with annoyance in his voice. But when he spotted the twins, who he hadn't seen since last summer, he smiled. "OH, hey, you two! What are you doing here? Didn't think I'd see you guys back until summer!"
