Wind “Mastery”

Gale has some minor mastery over the wind. Due to his complete inexperience with it, he’s only capable of short bursts before he begins to get faint.

Superior Durability

To be master of the wind, one has to be able to withstand what’s in it. Gale is a bit more durable than most.

The Life and Times of Gale Bach

Gale was born to a young Anna Bach in a small, nameless town in Connecticut. Gale didn’t know much of the place’s history, but from what he did know he really didn’t want to know more. It was perhaps of the most boring, quiet places in the world.

Schooling him was always a challenge, not because he didn’t understand the subject matter- on the contrary, Gale was a model student whereas it came to grades, easily understanding most concepts. But the teachers simply weren’t equipped to deal with him. The lack of challenge bored him intensely, just like everything else in the godsforsaken place. What he couldn’t find in school or elsewhere, he found in moronic decisions and stupid risks with little to no reward.

Something of a leader, he always seemed to have a group of friends nearly as dumb as he was when it came to decision making. Week-long adventures, playing with fire, and just about every other dumb decision a teenager could make was indeed made. The only reason they managed to survive was Gale’s almost supernatural ability to instinctually escape death after bringing himself into its face to start with, not to mention his seemingly unbreakable bones.

But by the age of 16, it seemed like something was coming. Gale felt it in his bones, but his long-suffering mother felt it in her soul. The world of his father was coming for Gale, though it certainly took its sweet time.

Gale didn’t see the monster outside, but he did hear his grandpa’s shotgun scaring it off. The next morning, he was sent off with a backpack of food and a map, as well as some instructions on the finer points of buses and trains. He didn’t know much about what was going on… only the very rudimentaries. But hey, that hasn’t stopped him from making poor decisions before, so why not see where this path led him in the end?

Right Now, This Very Moment

Gale had to say, for the few nights and days he had spent there, Camp Half-Blood was a pretty alright place. It was more exciting than anything he was used to back home, anyway, and that was good enough for him. Shit, who wouldn’t want to learn how to fight with ancient Greek weapons? And finding out your dad was one? Damn, that was pretty cool.

Of course it might have been a bit cooler if he knew which one it was. He always had a bit of a softer spot for Ares than he should admit aloud, given the god’s nature. Also he seemed a bit of a coward. But hey, aside from that…

Well, he supposed maybe Ares would be a piss poor parent. Might be better to have someone else. Surely they got some communication with ‘em all, right? What would he get from Ares in the mail? Brass knuckles?

Well, alright, that wouldn’t be so bad.

Still, walking along as the wind swept through his hair, a light breeze so comforting and smooth he couldn’t help but shiver with delight, the wondering fell away. Whatever else, his dad already beat an alcoholic who ran out on him, that was for sure.
