Mic input not coming from headphones

I connect headphones with a mic from audio jack. But I've noticed, there is lot of surrounding voice when I make a call or I'm in a meeting. This is because laptop is not taking mic input from headphones' mic rather the one of laptop which is present bear front camera.
So, can anyone assist me in setting up voice input from headphones'mic.
