Do I really need Waves Audio Service (WavesSysSvc64.exe) running?

In the last month or so the Waves Audio Service (WavesSysSvc64.exe) on my Dell XPS 13 (9360) is hogging excessive amounts of CPU to the point that the fan is constantly running. I've tried the usual suspects (sfc /scanow, virus check, update everything) and I'm at the point where I think i'll just disable the service. If I do, will I miss anything important?
