Dell G15 5511 Gaming Laptop. Does it support Gen 4 SSDS? People report it doesn't.

The manual implies the first SSD slot supports Gen 4, but looking online, people say it's capped at Gen 3 speeds. Is this still true, or has this been fixed in an update? One user reported that the software he used to check it was inaccurate, and it actually was running at Gen 4 speeds. So I don't know what to think.

Apparently it's an issue with Dell, as their own Gen 4 SSDs work properly. But could another brand of ssd work in the same way? Do you guys know much about this? Or should I go Gen 3 to be safe? Though I suppose I could get a Gen 4, and use it with another machine that supports it in the future.
