As if the Alienware R16 that has never functioned properly since the day I got it brand new could get any worse it has. So far 6 hours of tech support, mailed into Dell and returned in the exact same condition it was sent in as. The technician's note said that it was fixed and that all they had done was reinstall Windows. The tech from Dell and us had already done that multiple times, I even bought a brand new Western digital black SSD just in case that was the issue. A week later after tons of complaining a tech shows up with a new motherboard installs it and it works for a few hours. The next morning it won't turn on at all. Nothing dead. The previous problem was that it froze within 15 minutes of it being on. Fast forward a few days the tech worked on itcary experience of this entire nightmare. Around midnight, I was going around the house, closing curtains, locking doors, and turning on the alarm when I found the machine smoking, it has never been moved or altered since the technician last worked on it nothing has changed. I had not tried to power it on since that following day the technician came and replaced the motherboard. I canβt give you an answer on how long the smoking was taking place, however I can provide you with a video that my wife was able to capture with her cell phone. I do not know how to share it. Google drive won't work and the file will not upload. Help me.
Repairing the machine is no longer a viable or acceptable option. Replacing the machine would be the obvious answer. Hopefully with a model that has proven to be unreliable, and dangerous. I can only wonder if this has taken place many times to other customers obviously that dated is not going to be shared.
I would like to reiterate, the fact that the option of repairing this device is not an option. I want a new, functioning machine. That simply works, as this one should have from day one. A month ago.
We have moved it to our pool house which is climate controlled, however, disconnected from the main house in the very unfortunate event that a capacitor or similar element causing a serious fire. It is in the exact same shape. It was when the video was shot. The only thing that is different is that it was moved from one point to another inside my home to a building outside my home, obviously for reasons involving fire potential.
