So I live in delaware, last year my ex-girlfriend was in an accident with my car. It had insurance but she didn’t give it to the person she had hit at the time and the person filed a claim against me. I’ve tried to give the insurance but they weren’t taking it and I’m no longer with the insurance company and they’re no longer trying to take liability. The claim is for over 3k, I do not have the money. I got a call from someone saying I need to pay or they’re going to suspend my license. I’m not sure if they were debt collectors or an actual entity. Their name was “calculus” or something of the sorts. Can someone please let me know what I can do in this situation
She was living with me at the time, she rarely drove my car, I had allowed her this one time because we needed groceries. A police report was filed, she paid the fine for hitting the woman’s car. I recently found out another debt agency had actually contacted me in the name of “National Service Bureau” I gave them my information and not calculus. I can stop the payment. I had called, they said that progressive (my insurance at the time) had no letter of deniability stated on there. I have the policy number and acquired it from progressive. I have reached out the the insurance commissioner and they stated they will work on it. What can I do now? I plan to call them again, state they’ve been harassing me with scare tactics and malpractice, and cancel my current card to get another card. I did see that they can just submit paperwork for unpaid justice to suspend my license but I did indeed have insurance during the time. They’re saying if they don’t receive a payment it defaults. I do not want to pay that. They’re saying they need me to file a claim with my insurance but progressive is not allowing me.
