Post Body

Just got lunch at a location in Riverside, CA on Van Buren. They had an employee out in 90 degree heat taking orders on a tablet computer. She was standing under an umbrella but still. I for one don't mind waiting potentially a little longer in line if it means we do not have to subject some of the lowest wage earners to working outside in the heat. I mean we have to wait in line whether we are talking to a person in front of us or a person's voice coming from a speaker. I mentioned my concern to the manager on duty and got the old "It's policy" answer. I do not blame the manager but I would like to see if the same policy would apply if the owner or franchisee were forced to work in the heat. I know this is not just Del Taco but it is just the thought that our percieved level of convenience as consumers has these fast food companies to taking risks with there employees. I encourage you to take a minute to let these businesses know we are ok with waiting an extra 2 minutes to place our orders if it means that these low wage earners can work in a comfortable environment.
