Seabreeze Amusement Park; explicitly the history surrounding one PTC #36. The carousel that was brought into the park in 1915 from nearby Seneca Park. As a whole, the original carousel is defunct - despite it still standing to this day. However, if this wouldn't count, there was one other thing made defunct on this day, a coaster known as 'The Ghost Train' which I've been unable to find really any information on.
Due to a fire on March 31st, 1994 - it was completely destroyed, save for four wooden horses that were carved by one George Long, despite surviving so many other fire incidents, such as one that affected the original loading bay for Seabreeze's other pride and joy - the Jack Rabbit.
Personally, I think it would be an interesting story one day, bias nonwithstanding as someone who has enjoyed reading the history of my hometown theme park. This is mostly because for the Rochester area, the fire was a travesty due to how immensely popular the carousel was to the region. It's also probably the only way for Defunctland to cover the Jack Rabbit alongside it, due to its continuous run-time for so long and there would probably be nothing tearing it down save for an act of god.
Some media for people who want to see it...
Don Alhart at the end of a news reel about the fire in 1994.
A 1996 documentary of the history of the carousel, and the rebuild of the current day one.
Some (Albiet, blurry shots) of the 1994 fire are within this photo album.
A digitized video of someone recording the 1994 fire; bad video quality on this one.
