Hello. There's a panel video that I believe is from Defcon, but may be from another hacker conference about a team of lawyers that were representing a young hacker who got himself into trouble with the government. I remember a portion of the video was about them setting up a system to represent hackers and hacktivists, specifically those who didn't understand the law and had gotten themselves in hotwater for silly things, but also those who were serious hacktivists. I believe part of what they talked about was being stretched thin on resources despite wanting to better represent people. I believe the video is from a few years ago, no later than 2012.
I'm looking to dig it up as part of a research project and google is failing me at present. Thank you for any help you may or may not be able to offer.
