Okay so I've been thinking and I feel like it's super unethical to convince someone to not believe in their faith anymore, even if it's to join yours.
Post Body

So I was thinking about like the psychological benefits to like faith. So it's like a tool to overcome addiction, to force people to have enough hope to keep living, it changes everyday things as like blessings, and they have someone to blame if things go wrong. A lot of them teach like a moral code, that is generally acceptable to the people in the world. Sometimes creates a sense of positivity, or general good outlook on life.

To take that away, means that a person is going to have a existential crises, because usually religion becomes the very essence of your being. Manipulating your thoughts based on emotion that drives you to think or have opinions driven in a certain direction. You become that faith, and to rip that away would be to take away their reality, even if they end up joining yours in the end, the mental anguish caused by having your world shattered is to great. To make something we have no proof in worth it. At the end of the day, the faith you have in it, is entirely up to you, because you can't prove it's Existence. There's always a chance it is not the reality of things, because there is no Guarantee. It's actually pretty selfish to do so. It sorta feels unethical, and morally wrong. As for many the act of doing so might just take away their will to live. Psychologically it's a devastating process.

I've never been 1 to disclose what I believe in to begin with, I've sorta only discussed things as possibilities without being aggressive enough to change someones mind, because I'm not taking the chance that I misrepresent said entity. Instead I've always sorta just quietly supported it from the sidelines in financial, and physical labor type of ways. I'm actually almost entirely certain nobody in the community even knows I support except for the local head of the faith. So I'm not worried about doing something like this, but I'm afraid now I might subconsciously judge those who do.

Idk food for thought, what do yall think?

Edit to add, I do believe that ideologies that break the almost universal moral standard of do no harm should be evaluated, criticized and judged with proper steps taken to prevent those ideologies from resurfacing. Also I'd like to add that the people who act as a representative of that said religion are harmful, but the community out right states this is not a proper representation of their beliefs. Should be individually analyzed and judged. In every community the people who have severe mental illnesses like narcissistic, psychopath, and sociopaths. Tend to worm there way into a position where they state things that typically goes against said communities core values. Those are individuals and not a accurate representation of the faith as a whole. They get away with it because those people with those afflictions typically are very charismatic because they realized they were different and adopted a fake persona perfect to be well liked by many, and enjoy testing the waters if what they can get away with.

I'm talking about the average person, who generally either has no impact on the world, or has good impact on the world. There is no reason to force those people to get rid of something that is clearly making their life better, if it's not coming from a place of harm.
