The biggest misconception in physics is "The Big Bang"
Post Body

*this, although receiving positive traffic got taken down cuz the title of post wasn't "a thought" or something. I don't get it, but I fixed the title to make it a "complete thought" I think, I don't really get it.

Exploring the universe through physics has become an endeavor for many curious non-physicists. Youtube is full of terrible information, but it also has given us great science teachers and content that is very accurate.

When non-trained physicists attempt to understand how the universe works, I've found that there is one misconception bigger than all the rest.

"The Big Bang"

First, this term was coined by a skeptic of the theory and it is a HORRIBLE name that misleads nearly all lay science enthusiasts.

Many people believe, incorrectly. that the Big Bang was like an explosion at a point in space and everything is expanding from that point.

This is very very incorrect.

The Big Bang occurred, EVERYWHERE.

Take a deflated balloon and draw dots on it with a marker. Then inflate the balloon. Notice all points are expanding away from each other. This is the Big Bang.

Its like your graph paper all began to expand at once.

When people ask, where is the center of the universe (with the image of the incorrect model of the big bang), they are surprised to learn, they themselves are the center of the universe.

I always knew I was the center of the universe, and physics says I'm right! Of course, we all are the center too, so I guess we are all special.
