Lost all save files on PC

Hi all,
I recently got into this game, only got to player level 6, but it appears all my save files got overwritten, both on my PC and steam cloud, appear to be replaced with L4D2 save files. I believe this was probably due to my PC being at near storage space capacity. I’ve checked both the cloud and my PC storage rigorously, to no avail.
All that to ask, is there anything else to try before just starting over?
