TLDR: crowded with textiles but no outwardly seemed to mind me (36m) and my friend (30m) being fully nude from Bowen and back.
Got there around 10am and stripped down shortly after getting onto the trail. Did the whole hike in just boots and backpacks. Ran into about 4 or so groups of people on the way in. Only one group commented, m/w with the w saying “already for the springs I see”. Otherwise ppl just smiled and kind of avoided eye contact. We were polite and said hi to all.
Got to the springs around 1040 and there were approximately 20 people there (3 in lower, 6 in big, 3 in back upper, and 7 in the one in the sun by the camping area). Only one other naked guy. No one seems to mind is being naked but kinda looked away and giggled. Easy enough convo. Luckily no music. Had a great time with some folks in the lower one in the sun. Throughout the time we were there many more people came, all textiles.
We left around 1pm and hiked out nude. Hiking out were so many more ppl, including families. A few people were playing music. And we got more negative adjacent comments and looks. Left in the car nude.
All in all, a good experience but definitely less of the nudist experience I first had 5 years ago. Definitely TikTok and instagram influence. Perhaps it’s because it was potentially a holiday, but will continue to try to only come in the middle of the week so there will be more textile free folks like me and my friend.
