My partner, who's a huge Bret fan, has taken to sharing his views in 'arguments' with ChatGPT where he feels like he's convincing the AI to see his points of view on how evolutionary forces have led to regulatory capture. He's spending hours a day on this and it's alarming. He's further restricted real-world interaction (previously mostly interacting with Dark Horse approved content and ideas) because he feels validated by this machine as he finds ways to make a piece of software programmed to be agreeable do its job and agree with him... I'd love to know if this is just him or more widespread. I really appreciated the latest Decoding Academia on AI for understanding more about what's happening here, but I'm wondering if others are seeing loved ones (or hell, even enemies) argue with a machine all day.
