About 6 weeks ago I (26M) decided to finally take responsibility for my life and turn it around. I've stopped smoking, stopped all forms of drug use (I used to be a daily user for the good part of 4 years and I've stopped drinking.
I've also signed up for my first 12 week gym group challenge and started getting really into jujitsu, which had been amazing for my social anxiety.
All the physical activities have really helped me to keep busy and off the substance abuse as well as get my body back into a shape I'd be more proud of. But to be honest with myself deep down most these issues and bad decisions have stemmed from deeper emotional and childhood trauma. So yesterday I saw my GP got on a mental health plan and booked into my first session.
I'm glad I've decided to try and I finally feel like I'm getting to a place where I might be able to get on that greener grass.
Thanks for reading.
EDIT: Thanks everyone for the kind words of support, this has really given me a good boost of motivation and I can't wait to give a progress update in the near future!
