Debt Settlement

Hello!
Hope you can provide some insight on this but I was talking to an agency who offered a settlement option. Essentially they would give me a quote, the money I pay would go to an escrow and said not to pay the other creditors.
I know the plan is to run the debt ceiling high to send off to a creditor in which they would jump in. In turn affect my credit score which Iām ok with. But Iām unsure about how secure this practice is.
Any advice would be great!
