Due largely in part to mental health reasons. I had to take 2 disability leaves in a year, and then had to work part time at a lower wage when I began working again. I have had to pay a lot in medical expenses and still try and keep my house moving and it all just piled up (plus spending while manic). I am stable and I just want this debt to be gone and be able to move on it, as the stress I feel really impacts me. I do not utilize or use these cards anymore, I use my debit now.
I have about 16.5k on a discover card, and another 13.5k on 2 chase cards. In addition, I have student loan debt but I am fine leaving that out to pay over the life of that loan.
I really don't add to the balances of these cards, and I pay a little above the minimum because that's all I can do with how high the payments are (180, 260, and approx 300, roughly 740) and how high the interest is (ranging 20-24%). I have negotiated lower interest rates but the companies made it clear this is for only new purchases (but I don't use the cards). I have a new job and want to move on from this. I feel like I have the ability to pay this amount over 3 or 5 years if the interest rate was lower and it was a lump payment.
I have looked at a few options and want to get a personal loan, and have been thinking doing it at a credit union or a more local bank might be helpful (Im in wa).The loan would need to cover the roughly 32 k in cc debt. I have about a 715 credit score on experian. I feel like this would be a really good option for me, however I don't feel I'd be able to secure a loan that large with a low enough interest rate.
Any advice? (Please be nice I've already said the worst things to myself, trust me)
