There's an old joke where an eskimo asks a priest "if i did not know about god and sin would i go to hell?" The priest replies "No. Not if you didn't know." and the eskimo says, "Then why did you tell me?"
There's 2 main arguments against the idea that god is testing us in this life especially when we come out of the problem of evil debate
- Why would god make the tests egregiously unequal?
If we were to say christianity is true, there are certain people who have no chance of coming into contact with said religion so if god is testing us why would he make one child be born into the correct faith already and antoher be in a north korean concentration camp for his whole life.
- Why would god give different genetic predispositions to presupposing in things?
We know that skeptical minds and analytical views of the world have some sort of genetic basis so why would a comprehensive test be much harder for others and easier for some?
This is like asking someone what 2 2 equals and then asking another person to solve differential equations. Tests have to be fair in order to represent who goes to hell and heaven.
