Beginner Tips: Understanding equipment and game mechanics *No spoilers
Post Body

This is version 2.0 of my first List. I've added some stuff and also have debunked some theories.

This is stuff that took me longer than it should have to figure out.

NAVIGATION:
============
ONLINE STATUS You can check if you’re online by opening your cuff link and looking at the top right corner it will say “online”.

If you’re offline you can connect manually from the cuff link menu.

MAP ELEVATION: When you're plotting a course you can actually see some of the elevation by touching the Ps4 Controller Touchpad and tilting the controller, doing this will tilt the map and give you a better idea of what the elevation is, so you can plan better routes.

NAV POINTS: If you hold "L1" you will pull your binoculars, doing this will show all markers available. Additionally you can mark nav points with "Square" if you look at this nav points with binoculars you will see a tiny map show up that will tell you a graph of elevation vs distance, very useful to plot courses specially if you find there's a hidden dip between you and your destination.

PLOT COURSE: While in map, you can plot a course by holding square and dragging your cursor to next location, this way you can segment an entire course to your destination which will show in game. Additionally doing this will also tell you the distance per point.

CHIRAL BANDWIDTH you can check it on the menu how much bandwidth you have available. Only YOUR structures take bandwidth. And you can disassemble any structure remotely from the map.

P.s. Safehouses take the most bandwidth.

SHARING YOUR STRUCTURES You can “request upgrade” on your structures by pressing triangle on them on the map. This makes it more likely that they are visible to other players, in hopes the structure gets upgraded. So share your best structures!

REST TO SAVE GAME: You can save your game by simply standing still, and hold circle. Sam will sit down and game will be saved. You can also use this time to rest faster and interact with BB. Resting for a long time with create "cairns".

CARGO MANAGEMENT:
====================

ITEM MANAGEMENT By holding square and pressing up or down you can select multiple pieces of equipment, if you press right or left you will jump to "next category" if you press R1 or L1 you will show/hide a category, if you're moving a lot of equipment you can press "X" once to move per item, or hold "X" to move ALL items, also holding "X" will always "confirm" last changes, if you don't have anything selected you will confirm all changes and exit the inventory menu.

QUICK CARGO MENU When opening your map "Cargo" is always selected at the beginning and by pressing X you can instantly go to your inventory without the need to switch to the menu by pressing left on the d-pad.

AUTO ARRANGE: If you're in the cargo menu and you press "Triangle" this will arrange your cargo, however, sometimes it's worth checking it over as it will sometimes omit putting small cargo on your switch.

CENTER OF GRAVITY when you’re loading stuff on your back you can see a blue circle at your feet. Too much weight on one side or too high will make more difficult to keep your balance.

QUICK OFFLOAD Having too much equipment will make you more visible even if you're hiding in the bush. Offload quickly by holding triangle. This is also very useful if you're running into a fight or into a situation where you need to be agile

EQUIPMENT:
===========

REPAIR SPRAY You can use the spray can on your backpack and gear if you hold L2 and press square.

LADDER You can slide down ladders if you hold square and press down

ANCHORS each anchor holds 3 charges.

BRIDGES can extend from 50m to 80mt by looking up or down when you're holding L2.

If a rope is somewhere weird/inaccessible you can reset it by pressing options.

WATCHTOWER Great too look far away and will keep things marked for you.

ADVANCED DRIVING Triangle is "Break" for vehicles. Which is very useful when trying to stop sliding on steep inclines. You can also enter in reverse faster if you brake quickly after driving, as opposed to just stopping acceleration which takes a couple of seconds longer before you can go in reverse. This is very useful in getaway maneuvers and climbing
mountains. Also L3 is "boost".

*****The Following tips have Mild equipment spoilers for those still in Episode 1-2*****

ZIPLINE You can change the destination by pressing right/left on the d-pad.

Max range between ziplines is 300m and 350m on upgraded Zipline.

Zipline Lvl 2 costs 240 chemicals and 480 Special alloys.

You can create nav points in map to measure distance, or create tangents to plan zip-lines more effectively.

PAVING STATION You can upload materials directly from a vehicle if you park right next to the paving station on the other side of the stairs.

Paving will probably cost a lot less if that station is within the chiral network.

By staying in the middle of the highway in the "Energy Zone" your battery will not get discharged.

SAFEHOUSES You customize room color from the INSIDE terminal under the system menu.

DEFENSIVE ROPE: You can use your rope to counter melee attacks from MULES. Select Rope, hold "L2" and once a MULE Attacks if timed right you'll counter them.

MISCELLANEOUS:
===============

RIVERS Falling on the red actually doesn’t kill you just sweeps you away.

ADVANCED FIGHTING You can tackle by running holding L2 R2 and pressing “X”.

You can hold packages and use them as a weapon when you punch. Also, you can stop holding while you do this and throw stuff.

BIOLOGICAL WARFARE Sam’s Urine can be used to annoy and distract BT’s

THROW FARTHER Hold R2 to increase range.

SWITCH SHOULDER CAMERA: This is specially useful when you have a large load and can't see the scanner. Just Press "R3"and you'll switch shoulders for camera angle. Very useful!

1ST PERSON GAMEPLAY More often than not you can hold L1 anywhere such as inside a vehicle to switch to 1st person view.

HOTSPRINGS You can shower in hot spring to replenish stamina and pass the time and play with BB, but you can also bring friendly NPC's with you to the hot springs!

I'm creating an updated version of Advanced Tips. Link will be here when ready.

*EDIT: I'm updating both these lists as I go and actually found more interesting things that ought to be mentioned to either understand mechanics better or avoid missing possible secrets. Also, thanks for all the feedback.
