Does anyone know how the red marker ended up on Aeges VII? I know humans built one and put it there but I really wonder how they managed to do it without being affected by it? Just prior to DS1 it's discovered that there are drill marks at the site but no other evidence of humans being there (no base or bodies left behind)

I'm curious if they all killed themselves and became necromorphs but then again would they not be there when the colony was formed?

Anyone know the lore leading up to it and how it was made and left without a whole convergence event happening?
