I was just reading the GameRant article talking about the content from the original Dead Space 2, and how it could be difficult for EA to do it without getting into hot water or seeming crass, but I think it could also be a great way to shine light on mental health issues. Obviously, the Marker is influencing Isaac, along with his guilt over Nichole’s death. But it could also be used to show him persevering in spite of it, pushing forward with his life. The original did a pretty good job of showing his denial, then acceptance of what happened. A DS2 remake can also be used to expand on the lore that they added to the remake regarding his parents, and could address his hate and anger towards Unitology, and how he processes those feelings. Like, he may come across a survivor or two in the recruitment center and leaves them die. But later on, after Dana, he could try to save a Unitologist who willingly gives themself to an infect or something, and that also adds to his feelings of guilt. Or, maybe, Ellie could be a Unitologist until she learns the truth about the Marker. Who knows. Just some ideas.
