Why can't I remember anything?

My mom died only two years ago, yet it's so hard to remember anything. Does anyone have any tips to help me remember? The fact I can't remember anything is tearing me to shreds. I just want to remember some things. I just want to remember her personality and her life. I want to remember how she felt. Damn, this kinda hurts.
