We are both in our upper 30s, with 2 kids, successful careers, loving and supportive family and the picture perfect definition of happy. My partner struggles with Depression. She is amazing in every other way but its the largest strife in our relationship. Her depression does not manifest itself as as sadness, but as anger. She lashes out at the smallest things and later claims its no big deal. She processes emotion externally (vocally) and says things that are hurtful. They say it takes an average of 4-5 positive experiences to outweigh 1 negative one. I try to just ignore the negative one because im not sure we are up to that average.
Anyone with young kids will know sex is difficult already with her depression ours is basically nill.
Yes she takes medicine. Yes she goes to therapy. Yes she knows she struggles with this.
I try to give her grace. Im just tired of it.
Im partially writing this to vent and partially trying to find people in similar circumstances to talk.
