Tharzuz had wandered the world before he had met Wryn and saw the floating castle and was forced to worry for the future of the world. When he had journeyed he had learned about the various gods that existed beyond his little corner of the world, and one that had intrigued him was Ra'than, a deity who seemed obsessed with conflict and work to create what he thought was the perfect person. Someone like that, Tharzuz thought, would be a perfect friend and ally against those who would seek to stop Tharzuz's purpose.

He flew to the island as a large griffon before turning into an elephant shrew with a giraffe neck while attempting to find this island's creator. As he showed his self to Ra'than, he would become a large lion with a cheetah's markings.
