The Great Serpent
Post Body

In the Great Depths, to the west of the Isle of Nazhavec, the water seemed empty. This was due to the fact that, as the name suggests, only deep-water marine life lived there. But as time went on, and the races had matured on this new world, stories spread in the North of something living there, something that would occasionally come from the depths to strike fear in the races of the land.

This thing was a creation of the Plague Ridden, something that the races near the Great Depths would come to realize. It was a great water serpent, one of almost 40 feet in length, that can breathe a poisonous cloud to kill and incapacitate large groups of people. It would serve as the monster of the northern seas, and while its home was always in the Great Depths it was known to be found anywhere to the west of the Twilight Isles.

As time went on, some of the Komatuga noticed the signs of L'zthnyl's influence on the creature, and after their shamans spent many years praying and sacrificing to the god he finally heard their requests. After he appeared in their fever dreams, they learned of the cost needed to satiate the monster. The Komatuga would sacrifice large animals to the creature, and by doing so the creature learnt that the Komatuga were a people who respected it and provided it with needed food. The Great Serpent began to attack the Komatuga's fishing boats less and less, until finally it seemed as if the creature could recognize the Komatuga. Symbols and stories would spread through the Komatuga of the Great Serpent, their protector.
