The edge of the mist was not much farther to the east from the large forest and the Rotbog that sat in the north. To the north of the mist was also the horrid land of V'khaj'laho. L'zthnyl, never truly satiated with this lack of creation, and one to always enjoy a good time creating something new, journeyed out and shaped a new and simple land not yet seen on this world.
The steppe would have a warmer temperature than the forest or the bog for how north it was, however at night it would become extremely cold. This extreme temperature change was a major part of the way the steppe would form, as it was covered only with grass and small shrubs that could survive with little water and these vastly different temperatures. Only small animals and roaming animals like horses live in such a place, where they roam and graze. Gerbils would roam the grass and some groups of wolves would move between the forest and the steppe to hunt. A significant amount of different birds would also call this home, including some eagles and falcons.
There would be a mountain range between V'khaj'laho and the steppe separating the two areas. Along the edge of the mist would be some mediocre sized lakes that would serve as the source of much of the water in the steppe. In addition, creatures known as the Dybukk live in tribal communities across the steppe. They have a horses body but have a goat as its upper torso, combined with horns and hands. The length and width of a Dybukk's horns are a significant factor in their status in society, and duels amongst themselves for positions of influence within their tribes are a common sight. Unlike many species, both female and male members of their populace are seen as warriors, leaders, and caretakers. They would come to dominate the steppes, and not known to leave them.
