You thought Dawn was dead? Well, it was. But no longer!
It is my pleasure to bring you the next reincarnation of Dawnpowers, only this time we won't be using reddit. Instead, I present to you: WikiDawn. If you've been paying attention to the discord (and you really should, it's where all the action happens), then you should already be aware of the project, but if not, here are most of the main details:
WikiDawn is doing away entirely with the weekly cycle, and instead moving to an Era system. Over the course of an undetermined number of months, you will have free reign over every event spanning a period of roughly 1500 years (different eras may be different lengths). You can focus your efforts on the exploits of a single explorer, or write a civil war and then after write up the backstory as to why it happened. Even after we have moved to a new Era however, you are welcome to keep writing about events in the past and fleshing out details and aspects (try to avoid making new major events though). The game starts in the formative era, with the first cities popping up at the end of it, but the Pre-Formative Era and Proper Archaic exist in the past. We've gone ahead and sketched out some basic cultural groups and movements to help, and players are welcome to describe how their culture splintered off from one of these, or perhaps came from a separate group entirely.
We hope this new system will help foster increased engagement and take away most of the chore that participating in DawnPowers sometimes felt like. If you have any questions or comments, or want to join, leave a comment below or hop right on the Discord!
