Nyana Kashi
Post Body

Rapakuchi, the first Impirren, was still in power (and still relatively young) when his son Kutaq, the leader of the Rynatoonii army, first took control of the coast of the Kakapopo Sea. The caravan routes to and from the Sea were lucrative, as control over them allowed the new empire to bypass any taxation levied on them by the minor chiefdoms previously in control of the routes, allowing them to both decrease the price of salt for export and increase revenues at the same time.

Yet the ease of transportation of the salt was still the limiting factor for how much could be sold to the rest of the world. There was more than enough salt for the entire world collected at the bottom of the Kakapopo Sea, but the collectors were stop collecting if there was a significant enough backlog of untransported salt, so it was directly in the interests of the Impirren to make that transportation faster and easier and safer.

That was done by the Nyana Kashi, or Salt Road.

The Nyana Kashi began in Rynatoo, and extended straight west through the flat steppe until it arrived at Yurana, a fortress that was constructed by Kutaq to control the coast of the Kakapopo that was nearest to Rynatoo, and it was extended south to connect the most productive of the salt collecting towns.

The construction was initially nothing too complex, the roads were technically paved in that they were flattened and covered in order to make to transportation via cart as safe, common, and easy as possible. This came with the state-funded construction of a fleet of carts and the raising of horses for their manning.

Rapakuchi was still alive and co-ruling with Kutaq by the time that the Nyana Kashi's initial extent had been finished, and already the effects were clear: Significantly more salt was arriving in Rynatoo that could then be traded and sold throughout the rest of the region.

Over the succeeding Impirrens the Nyana Kashi (and several other Nyanas) would be expanded, renovated, and constructed, so as to fully connect the empire to Rynatoo and vice-versa, to ease transportation, establish the internal market, and increase Rynatoo's position as the center of trade for the known world.
