CRISIS AWARDS
Miecalism touched the world and left its tragic mark. Within the known world - and even beyond - states were cut down by Death Feverās scythe with neither care nor kindness. Simply put, it seemed like the end -- and for many cultures, it was. But - like a forest after a fire - the trees that grew back were more vibrant and more verdant, and those plants that were small before could rise to fill the gaps left by those who came before. The opportunities were endless, the possibilities infinite -- one could almost say that Miecalism marked a new dawn for the world. Subtle, really.
Right, CRISIS IS NOW OVER -- now for the AWARDS! There will be 6 awards, each of equal merit. My decision is subjective - and final - so if yāall start arguing with me or feeling sad that you didnāt win any, please donāt fret, I had a ton of posts to read through and so I chose the ones that left the biggest impact on me or that I remember the best. Rest assured, I enjoyed reading literally every post you guys made. After the awards, I will be visiting each of the comments on the crisis posts and awarding techs/rewards there too, so that means that everyone won something -- these are just the 6 big categories.
Here we are. The winners are just below here.
Just below this line.
Down there.
So, without further adoā¦
BEST CONFLICT
WINNER: /u/Volkanos
The Uburu Wars are a fun read, and who doesnāt like elephant battles? The duel in the middle was some of the most exciting battle RP I've read so far, and after that you included a lot of foot shooting, which I always appreciate. Looking forward to more!
RUNNER UP: /u/astroaron
Astroās posts take us through the religious wars in the Mekong, and although the protagonist is hugely affected by the conflict, to win this award I wouldāve liked to see more in-depth exposition about the war.
BEST FOOT SHOOTING
WINNER: /u/Quentin_Habib
Some of my favourite posts from this crisis, well thought-through and reasoned collapse of the Palatial States. Impartial, unaffected by love for his people, Quentin has done what few others can -- sacrifice his nations without giving them an out. Fantastic.
RUNNER UP: /u/CaptainRyRy
I can smell something redā¦ Perhaps itās the scent of the 90% who didnāt survive the fever? Riots, Exoduses -- Fantastic foot shooting, but if I see any communism coming from this I will do a v big angery. At the moment, however, everything seems peachy -- I don't have a problem with small agricultural communes.
BEST HANDLED
WINNER: /u/ChanelPourHomicide
Excellent research on garlicās powers to repel flies a reasonable way to use it without discovering that flies propagate the disease. This - coupled with Eirekās census - helped mitigate the diseaseās effects in Timeran lands. Nicely done!
RUNNER UP: /u/MrKlonam
Lucky sausage, living up north where the flies donāt fly -- whilst the south suffered, the Vrasshdan exploited those weaknesses to their own advantage, and thus bolstered their ranks with imported infants. No skin off their teeth, and a great success for them.
BEST STORY
WINNER: /u/Captain_Lime
Janaās arc is phenomenal, and actually got me somewhat attached to a character -- 13 posts will do that, I suppose ;) Iāll miss Asor as well - with all her snark and giggling - but luckily she lives on in our hearts, and in the hearts of the thousands that still worship her as a God. Looking forward to seeing where you take Asor now (the city, that is!).
RUNNER UP: /u/Tjmoores
Told in a series of diary entries, TJās posts follow a wide variety of characters, from an arrogant monk to a gay aristocrat. Excellent and wide-ranging coverage of the diseaseās ravages, plus a consistent arc. Noice.
BEST NEW RELIGION(S)
WINNER: /u/SandraSandraSandra
The sheer variety of religions - from the insane-but-egalitarian Unburnt, to the Far-Eyed monothiests, to Erekās Hirikism - is staggering, and each are fantastically explored in his posts. The conflict that arises from these competing religions also leads to some great conflict -- looking forward to reading more!
RUNNER UP: /u/astroaron
An excellent mash-up of Buddhism and a synthetic religion formed of major gods -- unfortunately, Sasanea/Ulyssesās new religion isnāt covered in much depth in the final post, but I assume thatāll be remedied soon!
BEST TRAGEDY
WINNER: /u/Supacharjed
RIP Adventures, you will be missed; although your time was brief, we will always remember you :( On a serious note, Supe's second post was one of the most tragic ones I've read on this sub, detailing the hopeless struggle of a mother in winter, as well as the slaughter and women and children. Absolutely grim, so you get top marks.
RUNNER UP: /u/SilvoKanuni
Properly apocalyptic in āReturn to the Promised Cityā, giving a first-hand account of Llipiti in chaos. Tragic to say the least.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
Aight, so now weāve got the awards, itās time to give out the rewards ;) Winners can now tag me on discord and get a personalised flair - with the colour they want - for themselves. As for the next crisis, that will be decided by a pair of people, one from the winners, and one from the runners up -- Iāll roll a dice to see which of you gets it. If you get picked and donāt want to be responsible, feel free to offload it to a person of your choice.
The rewards donāt end here, of course, there are still plenty of techs and territories to be handed out -- but that will happen on the original crisis post.
Thanks for being so engaged with this! I hope you enjoyed it, and to all of you that didnāt win -- maybe next time! HAPPY RPING!
