RP: In the centuries since Vladio's now-famous encounter with the Exaanos to the north, all Tedeshan have been cognizant of the possibility of other potential trading partners existing just over the horizon. Trade with the Exaanos has brought meats, leather, wool, and other items of value and usefulness into the hands of the Tedeshan. Most Tedeshan have, however, been perfectly content living out their lives without searching for any new potential peoples nearby, because of the risks involved with going on long voyage with no guarantee of finding anything.
Not all Tedeshan are this lazy and risk-averse, though. Recent advances is boat technology, namely sails and oars, have arrived in the village overseen by Argius, an experienced fisherman and village elder. Plank boats outfitted with these newfangled contraptions have made long distance voyages easier than ever before. The introduction of fishing weirs on the village's shoreline has lead to an abundance of food, meaning that the loss of a few fishing boats and their crew shouldn't reduce the village to starvation. Thus, in order to create great wealth for his village, and to enshine his name to the annals of history before he dies within a decade or so, Argius has decided that his village should send an expedition southwards, to lands unknown to any Tedeshan.
While some of the other prominent voices in the village balked at the wholly-unnecessary risk of several of the village's best boats and sailors, Argius managed to convince enough of them to support his plan with his talent for rhetoric and bombasticism. Thus, a small flotilla of about four plank boats, each equipped with sails and oars, and crewed by a half-dozen men each, would sail along the southern coastline. The boats would carry enough fresh water to last about a week with careful rationing, spears, bows, and knives to hunt and fish for food, and a few samples of Tedeshan and Exaanos trade goods, such as salt, olives, and linens. Lead by Argius's eldest son, Grasto Argius-son, they would hopefully return within a week or two with swanky trade goods and fanciful tales of foreign lands, and hopefully not unceremoniously all die from thirst before finding anything of note.
